Death toll continues to rise in COVID-19 pandemic

The number of Iowans who have died of the novel coronavirus is now at 107, with five deaths reported Saturday and an additional six deaths reported on Sunday.

An elderly adult (81 years or older) died in Clinton, Johnson and Linn counties during the 24 hours preceding April 25 at 10 am. An adult age 18-40 died in Johnson County, an adult age 41-60 died in Black Hawk County, and an adult age 61-80 died in Des Moines County.

The Iowa Department of Public Health was informed of 384 additional positive cases, for a total of 5,476 in the state. There were an additional 1,356 negative tests, for a total of 30,614 negative tests to date. At this time, 1 in 87 Iowans have been tested for COVID-19.
